Heyyo!

This week for writing, we read Hansel and Gretel again. We did Adverbial Phrase and Semicolon, Dialogue and Complex Sentences. I put sentences from the Hansel and Gretel book and put it in the boxes. `

Heyyo!

For Maths this week, my problem solving question was "There are currently three big tree stumps sitting in the way of where the bike track will go. The stump removal company have quoted $253 to get the three tree stumps removed. They are currently running a special of 20% off stump removal for the next week. If we book in during this time… What would the dollar amount of our discount be? What would the total price now be to get the 3 stumps removed? Now that we have calculated the price of removal, the company have made contact and said we can have a further 17% off if we pay in advance, what will the cost now be, if we take up their offer?" I did this problem solving with my friend, Arihia.

This is how I did it.

$253 - $50.60

$253 - $50 = $203 - 0.60 = $202.4
$202.4 - 7% = $162.4

17% off = $167.40

Heyyo!

This blog will be about maths. For maths this week, we worked on problem solving. The question I chose was:

"There are 360 students at St Francis of Assisi School, and 95 of these students are Year 7/8, Kaupeka. Do the Kaupeka students make up more or less than ⅕ of the students at St Francis?

This is how I worked it out.

360 - 95                     360 ÷ 2
360 - 60 = 300           180 ÷ 2 = 90
95 - 60 = 35               360 ÷ 4 = 90
300 - 35 = 265

Heyyo!

This blog will be about my writing workshop. For writing, we wrote sentences about Hansel & Gretel and read book on them. We also grabbed a snack from our lunchbox and ate it and then we wrote a sentence on it. We used words like "sweet, salty, minty, etc."

Heyyoo!

This blog will be about my Reading workshop this week. For our Reading workshop, we learned about Fantastics. For our Reading task, we had to pick a book to read and put Fantastics next to a sentence. For example, "she touched the apple" I would put the Fantastic, touch, next to it. Fantastics are Feelings, Taste, Hearing and more. - Link to Slide -
