Maths W8

 Ya-hoo!

For maths this week, our goal was "Express remainders as fractions, decimals or whole numbers." The question was "Due to COVID-19 and social distancing rules, Air New Zealand are unable to fill their flights to capacity. A standard airbus seats 234 people, however less than half of these seats are occupied and there are only 65 people on the flight.  For safety reasons, masks are provided on the flight.
If there are enough masks for 234 people, how many masks could each person have if they divided them all out? What is the remainder?" This is how we solved it.

234 ÷ 65
65 x 3 = 195
39 remainders
3 masks per passenger
